Hello. My name is Kai Yan, most people call me Kai. I’m currently living in San Diego as a active durty US Marine and a freelance art director. The name Redd Pepper is inspired by my first name "Kai Yan", which is pronounced like cayenne pepper, you see what I did there.

I am originated from Hong Kong, then moved to the States when I was 16. I have lived in 3 different states: Las Vegas, Florida, North Carolina, respectively. People say “Do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life”. Art is an everyday matter in my life. I’m constantly creating, using art and design to solve problems as well as expressing myself. When I’m not working, you’ll find me doing yoga, cycling, crocheting, reading, listening to music, simply finding more headspace to bring creative ideas to work. Some of my favorite artists are Andy Warhol, Basquiat, Salvador Dali, Banksy and Picasso. And some of my favorite photographers are Herb Ritts, Annie Leibovitz and Peter Lindbergh.

Some brands I have worked on are Krispy Kreme, BB&T, AAA, Gold’s Gym, Flexispot, SLS Hotel and Casino, Omnia, Hakkasan, Konica Minolta, Boyd Gaming, Louis Vuitton, Disney and Monster Jam.
